Poisons (Prohibited Substances) Amendment Order 1998

I make the following order under section 3 of the Poisons Act 1971 .

1.   Short title

This order may be cited as the Poisons (Prohibited Substances) Amendment Order 1998 .

2.   Commencement

This order takes effect on 19 December 1998.

3.   Principal Order

In this order, the Poisons (Prohibited Substances) Order 1990 is referred to as the Principal Order.

4.   Schedule 1 amended (Prohibited substances)

Schedule 1 to the Principal Order is amended by omitting item 68 and substituting the following item:
68.   Tetrahydrocannabinols and their alkyl homologues except –
(a) when separately specified in this Schedule; or
(b) when included in Schedule 8 of the Poisons List; or
(c) in hemp seed oil, containing 50 mg/kg or less of tetrahydrocannabinols, when labelled "Not for internal use" or "Not to be taken"; or
(d) in products for purposes other than internal human use containing 50 mg/kg or less of tetrahydrocannabinols.
