Traffic (General and Local) Amendment (Keep Clear) Regulations 1998
I, the Lieutenant-Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the Traffic Act 1925 .

These regulations may be cited as the Traffic (General and Local) Amendment (Keep Clear) Regulations 1998 .
These regulations take effect on the day on which their making is notified in the Gazette.
In these regulations, the Traffic (General and Local) Regulations 1956 are referred to as the Principal Regulations.
4. Heading to Part IV, Division 4 amended
The heading to Division 4 of Part IV of the Principal Regulations is amended by inserting "and markings" after "signs".
After regulation 28 of the Principal Regulations, the following regulation is inserted:28AA. Keep clear road markings
(1) The driver of a vehicle must not stop the vehicle or cause or permit the vehicle to remain stationary in a keep clear zone.(2) For the purpose of subregulation (1), a keep clear zone is that part of a public street that is (a) marked on its surface, in the form specified in item 1 of Part 4 of Schedule 4, with paint of a colour that contrasts with the colour of the adjacent roadway; and(b) painted with the words "KEEP CLEAR" between 2 parallel solid lines.(3) The form specified in item 1 of Part 4 of Schedule 4 is intended as an example only.
6. Heading to Schedule 4 substituted
The heading to Schedule 4 to the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting "SIGNS" and substituting "ROAD SIGNS AND MARKINGS".
7. Schedule 4 amended (Road signs and markings)
Schedule 4 to the Principal Regulations is amended by inserting after Part 3 of that Schedule the following Part:PART 4 - Road markings1. Keep Clear Zone
Displayed and numbered in accordance with the Rules Publication Act 1953.
