Building Amendment Regulations 1998
I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the Local Government (Building and Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1993 .

These regulations may be cited as the Building Amendment Regulations 1998 .
These regulations take effect on the day on which their making is notified in the Gazette.
In these regulations, the Building Regulations 1994 are referred to as the Principal Regulations.
4. Regulation 3 amended (Interpretation)
Regulation 3 of the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting the definition of "unregisterable relocatable dwelling" and substituting the following definition:unregistrable relocatable building means a relocatable building other than a relocatable dwelling that is, or is capable of being, registered under the Traffic Act 1925 ;
5. Regulation 5 amended (Prescribed building work)
Regulation 5 of the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting "unregisterable relocatable dwelling" and substituting "unregistrable relocatable building".
6. Regulation 10 amended (Incomplete documentation)
Regulation 10 of the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting "7" and substituting "5".
7. Regulation 12 amended (Referral to Chief Officer)
Regulation 12 of the Principal Regulations is amended as follows:(a) by omitting "7" from subregulation (1) and substituting "5";(b) by omitting "14" from subregulation (2) and substituting "10";(c) by omitting "14" from subregulation (3) and substituting "10";(d) by omitting "7" from subregulation (5) and substituting "5";
8. Regulation 13 amended (Referral of documents to function control authority)
Regulation 13 of the Principal Regulations is amended as follows:(a) by omitting "7" from subregulation (1) and substituting "5";(b) by omitting "14" from subregulation (2) and substituting "10".
9. Regulation 18 amended (Modifications may be required)
Regulation 18(3)(b) of the Principal Regulations is amended by inserting "if required by the building surveyor," before "resubmits".
10. Regulation 25 amended (Period for issue of permit or refusal)
Regulation 25 of the Principal Regulations is amended as follows:(a) by omitting "30" from subregulation (1)(a) and substituting "20";(b) by omitting "60" from subregulation (2) and substituting "40".

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the regulation)
These regulations amend the Building Regulations 1994 by –(a) substituting the definition of "unregistrable relocatable building"; and(b) reducing the time for processing building permits; and(c) amending the requirements relating to the modification of a drawing or specification.
