Dangerous Goods Amendment Regulations 1998
I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the Dangerous Goods Act 1976 .

These regulations may be cited as the Dangerous Goods Amendment Regulations 1998 .
These regulations take effect on the day on which their making is notified in the Gazette.
In these regulations, the Dangerous Goods Regulations 1994 are referred to as the Principal Regulations.
4. Regulation 3 amended (Interpretation)
Regulation 3 of the Principal Regulations is amended by inserting "the fifth edition of" in the definition of "ADG Code" after "means".
After regulation 101 of the Principal Regulations, the following regulation is inserted:(1) In this regulation,ADG6 means the sixth edition of the Australian Code for the Transport of Dangerous Goods by Road and Rail as published by the Commonwealth.(2) If, in respect of a duty or requirement, there is an inconsistency between the ADG Code and ADG6 and a person complies with ADG6 in connection with the performance of that duty or the meeting of that requirement, the person is taken to have complied with the ADG Code in connection with the performance of that duty or the meeting of that requirement.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the regulation)
These regulations amend the Dangerous Goods Regulations 1994 by amending the definition of "ADG Code" and by specifying that compliance with the sixth edition of the ADG Code is taken to be compliance with the fifth edition of that Code in certain circumstances.
