Statutory Holidays Amendment Act 2022

An Act to amend the Statutory Holidays Act 2000 to provide for a statutory holiday for a National Day of Mourning to pay respect for the passing of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II

Be it enacted by Her Excellency the Governor of Tasmania, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and House of Assembly, in Parliament assembled, as follows:

1.   Short title

This Act may be cited as the Statutory Holidays Amendment Act 2022 .

2.   Commencement

(1)  Except as provided by this section, the provisions of this Act are taken to have commenced on 11 September 2022.
(2)  Section 5 commences on 31 December 2022.

3.   Principal Act

In this Act, the Statutory Holidays Act 2000 is referred to as the Principal Act.

4.    Section 4 amended (Statutory holidays)

Section 4 of the Principal Act is amended by inserting after paragraph (h) the following paragraph:
(ha) 22 September 2022, for a National Day of Mourning to pay respect for the passing of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II;

5.   Section 4 further amended (Statutory holidays)

Section 4 of the Principal Act is amended by omitting paragraph (ha).

6.   Repeal of Act

This Act is repealed on 31 December 2023.
