Land Tax Rating Amendment Act 2022

An Act to amend the Land Tax Rating Act 2000

[Royal Assent 13 May 2022]

Be it enacted by Her Excellency the Governor of Tasmania, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and House of Assembly, in Parliament assembled, as follows:

1.   Short title

This Act may be cited as the Land Tax Rating Amendment Act 2022 .

2.   Commencement

This Act commences on 1 July 2022.

3.   Principal Act

In this Act, the Land Tax Rating Act 2000 is referred to as the Principal Act.

4.    Schedule 1 amended (Rate of land tax)

Schedule 1 to the Principal Act is amended as follows:
(a) by omitting "$50 000" from column 2 of item 1 in the table and substituting "$100 000";
(b) by omitting item 2 from the table and substituting the following:

$100 000 - $499 999.99

$50 and 0.45 cents for each dollar of the assessed land value or apportioned assessed land value in excess of $100 000

(c) by omitting "$400 000" from column 2 of item 3 in the table and substituting "$500 000";
(d) by omitting "$1 975" from column 3 of item 3 in the table and substituting "$1 850";
(e) by omitting "$400 000" from column 3 of item 3 in the table and substituting "$500 000".

5.   Repeal of Act

This Act is repealed on the first anniversary of the day on which this Act commenced.
