Tourism and Recreational Development Act 1977
An Act to establish a fund for the purpose of making grants and loans for the promotion and development of tourism and recreational facilities

Be it enacted by His Excellency the Governor of Tasmania, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and House of Assembly, in Parliament assembled, as follows:
This Act may be cited as the Tourism and Recreational Development Act 1977 .
In this Act, unless the contrary intention appears Fund means the Tourism and Recreational Development Fund established under section 3 .
3. Tourism and Recreational Development Fund
(1) The Treasurer shall, in accordance with section 9 of the Public Account Act 1957 , establish a trust account in the Trust Fund to be called the Tourism and Recreational Development Fund.(2) There shall be credited to the Fund such moneys as are appropriated by Parliament for the purpose.
4. Grants and loans for the tourism industry
[Section 4 Substituted by No. 58 of 1989, s. 3 ]The Treasurer may, after consulting the Minister with responsibility for tourism, and on such terms and conditions as the Treasurer considers appropriate, make a grant or a loan from the Fund for any purpose which, in the opinion of the Treasurer, will benefit the tourism industry.
5. Grants and loans for recreational facilities
[Section 5 Substituted by No. 58 of 1989, s. 3 ]The Treasurer may, after consulting the Minister with responsibility for recreation, and on such terms and conditions as the Treasurer considers appropriate, make a grant or a loan from the Fund to provide, promote or develop a recreational facility.
5A. Allocations to government bodies
[Section 5A Substituted by No. 58 of 1989, s. 3 ]The Treasurer may allocate money in the Fund to a government department, body or instrumentality for a purpose referred to in section 4 or 5 after consulting the relevant Minister.
[Section 6 Amended by No. 81 of 1977, s. 3 ][Section 6 Amended by No. 42 of 2003, Sched. 1, Applied:04 Jul 2003] Not later than 31 October after the end of each financial year the Treasurer shall lay before Parliament a statement giving particulars of all the grants, loans, and allocations made under this Act during that financial year.
