Fire Service (Finance) Regulations 1996

I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council and on the recommendation of the State Fire Commission, make the following regulations under the Fire Service Act 1979 .

1.   Short title

These regulations may be cited as the Fire Service (Finance) Regulations 1996 .

2.   Commencement

These regulations take effect on the day on which their making is notified in the Gazette.

3.   Interpretation

In these regulations
the Act means the Fire Service Act 1979 .

4.   Prescribed percentages under section 77C(2)

For the purposes of section 77C(2) of the Act, the prescribed percentage is –
(a) in the case of aviation hull insurance – 14%; and
(b) in the case of marine cargo insurance – 2%; and
(c) in the case of any other class of insurance – 28%.

5.   Prescribed body under sections 77C(3) and 77E(2A)

For the purposes of sections 77C(3) and 77E(2A) of the Act, the Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources is a prescribed body.

6.   Prescribed minimum assessed annual values of land under section 79A(2)

(a) $1 783 in relation to each permanent brigade rating district; and
(b) $2 110 in relation to each composite brigade rating district; and
(c) $5 611 in relation to each volunteer brigade rating district; and
(d) $6 328 in relation to general land.

8.   Prescribed rebate under section 95

For the purpose of section 95 of the Act, the prescribed fire service contribution rebate is 20% of the contribution.

9.   Rescission

Regulations 117, 117A and 117B of the Fire Service Regualtions 1981 are rescinded.
