Vocational Education and Training Regulations 1995

I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the Vocational Education and Training Act 1994 .

1.   Short title

These regulations may be cited as the Vocational Education and Training Regulations 1995 .

2.   Commencement

These regulations take effect on 1 July 1995.

3.   Interpretation

In these regulations –
Act means the Vocational Education and Training Act 1994 ;
block release means release from employment to attend training on a continuous basis which requires moving away from the normal place of residence;
course means a training course that leads to an award;
day release means release from employment to attend training on a day to day basis;
training program means a training course that does not lead to an award but provides credit transfer into a course;
short course means a training course that does not lead to an award and does not provide credit transfer into a course.

4.   Fees

The fees specified in Schedule 1 are payable in respect of the matters specified in that Schedule.

5.   Travel and meal allowances

(1)  The allowances specified in Schedule 2 are payable to trainees in respect of the matters specified in that Schedule.
(2)  A trainee may apply to the Secretary for a meal allowance for meals –
(a) taken on weekends while attending a training course; and
(b) the cost of which are not included in the weekly accommodation rate.
(3)  An application is to be –
(a) made in writing; and
(b) accompanied by original evidence of the costs involved.
