Allport Library and Museum of Fine Arts Regulations 1985
I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council hereby make the following regulations under the Libraries Act 1984 .

These regulations may be cited as the Allport Library and Museum of Fine Arts Regulations 1985 .
These regulations shall take effect on the day after their notification in the Gazette.
In these regulations, unless the contrary intention appears Agreement means the agreement approved by the Allport Library and Museum of Fine Arts Agreement Act 1966 ;Collection means the items forming the Allport Library and Museum of Fine Arts referred to in the Agreement;item includes a book or any other article;reserved area means the part of the building in which the Collection is kept in pursuance of the Agreement.
(1) Notwithstanding anything in these regulations, a person shall not borrow, or be permitted to borrow, an item in the Collection except in accordance with the Agreement.Penalty: $50.(2) Except for the purpose of giving effect to the Agreement, or as otherwise may be permitted by it, a person shall not remove an item in the Collection from the reserved area.Penalty: $50.(3) For the purposes of regulation 4 , the Collection and the reserved area shall be regarded as forming part of the State Library Service.(4) An employee of the State Library Service may remove or exclude from the reserved area a person who (a) in the reserved area, contravenes any of the provisions of regulation 10 of the Libraries Regulations 1985 ;(b) contravenes or fails to comply with any of the provisions of these regulations; or(c) enters the reserved area without the permission required for that entry under any of the provisions of these regulations.
5. Examination of items of the Collection
(1) A person shall not examine, handle, or remove any item of the Collection unless permission has been granted pursuant to this regulation.Penalty: $50.(2) Where the Management Committee is satisfied that a person requires to examine, handle, or remove any item of the Collection for research or such other purpose it considers appropriate, it may grant that person permission to examine, handle, or remove the item.(3) A permission granted under subregulation (1) as the Management Committee may determine.(a) shall be for such period; and(b) may be subject to such conditions or restrictions (4) A permission granted under subregulation (1) may be cancelled at any time by the Management Committee.
6. Articles provided for examination
(1) A person shall not use any article provided in the reserved area for the purpose of, or for facilitating, the examination of an item in the Collection except for the purpose of carrying out an examination that he is entitled to carry out under these regulations.Penalty: $50.(2) A person shall not use any article referred to in subregulation (1) contrary to any directions given by the Management Committee with respect to its use.Penalty: $50.
7. Acknowledgment in publication
A person who intends to publish or cause to be published any work using any item in the Collection shall make acknowledgment of the source of any information obtained from the Collection that was so used.
(1) A person shall not, without the permission of the State Librarian, take a photograph of the reserved area, or a part of it, or of an item in the Collection, or a part of any such item.(2) Before the State Librarian gives permission under this regulation, the person by whom, and any person for whom, the photograph is taken shall give an undertaking in writing that, in consideration of the permission being granted, that person will not, without the consent of the State Librarian cause or allow the photograph to be reproduced or to be published in a book.
(1) A person who has not attained the age of 12 years and is not accompanied by a person who has attained the age of 18 years may not be admitted to the reserved area without the permission of the State Librarian.(2) A party or organized group or persons shall not be admitted to the reserved area without the permission of the State Librarian unless each of those persons has attained the age of 18 years.(3) The State Librarian may refuse admission to the reserved area, or any part of it, to any person without giving a reason for his refusal, and a person who has been so refused admission shall not enter the reserved area or the part to which he has been refused admission.Penalty: $50.(4) The State Librarian may at any time close the reserved area or any part of it to the public, and a person shall not, without the permission of the State Librarian, enter or remain in the reserved area, or part of it, while it is so closed.Penalty: $50.
A person shall not, without lawful excuse, set off the security alarm installed in the reserved area.Penalty: $50.
11. Offences relating to the Collection
A person shall not, without the permission of the Management Committee (a) use any recording or typewriting machine in the reserved area;(b) make a tracing from a book in the Collection; or(c) lay anything on any such book or a page of any such book.Penalty: $50.
