Proclamation under the Roads and Jetties Act 1935

I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, by this my proclamation made under section 7 of the Roads and Jetties Act 1935  –

(a) declare the portion of road specified in Schedule 1 to this proclamation to be a subsidiary road, and classified as a developmental road, for the purposes of Part II of that Act; and
(b) amend the proclamation notified in the Gazette as Statutory Rules 1970, No. 67 as follows:
(i) by omitting from Part I of the Second Schedule to that proclamation the item relating to the Waratah Main Road and substituting the following item:

Waratah

From its junction with the Murchison Highway at the Fingerpost to its junction with Corinna Developmental Road at Leatherwood Avenue, Savage River, via Camp Street, Smith Street and William Street in Waratah, and via the deviation at Savage River

27.25 miles

(43.85 kilometres)

(ii) by omitting from Part III of the Second Schedule to that proclamation the item relating to the Heemskirk Tourist Road and substituting the following item:

Heemskirk

From its junction with the Zeehan Highway at the western boundary of Fowler Street in Zeehan to its junction with the Corinna Developmental Road, via Heemskirk Road

21.93 miles

(35.29 kilometres)

(iii) by omitting from Part III of the Second Schedule to that proclamation the item relating to the Reece Dam Tourist Road and substituting the following item:

Reece Dam

From its junction with the Heemskirk Tourist Road at its junction with the Corinna Developmental Road to the southern abutment of the Reece Dam, via Heemskirk Road

(iv) by omitting from Part IV of the Second Schedule to that proclamation the item relating to the Corinna Developmental Road and substituting the following item:

From –

23.35 miles

 

(a) its junction with the Waratah Main Road at Leatherwood Avenue, Savage River, to the north bank of the Pieman River at Corinna, via Corinna Road; and

(37.58 kilometres)

 

(b) the south bank of the Pieman River at the river crossing at Corinna to its junction with the Heemskirk Tourist Road and Reece Dam Tourist Road, via Corinna Road.

 
(c) revoke the following proclamations:
(i) the proclamation notified in the Gazette as Statutory Rules 1991 No. 157, in so far as it relates to the Waratah Main Road;
(ii) the proclamation notified in the Gazette as Statutory Rules 1988 No. 142;
(iii) the proclamation notified in the Gazette as Statutory Rules 1988 No. 143;
(iv) the proclamation notified in the Gazette as Statutory Rules 1983 No. 30, in so far as it relates to the Waratah Main Road and to the Corinna Developmental Road; and
(d) declare that this proclamation takes effect on the day on which its making is notified in the Gazette.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This proclamation –
(a) declares a portion of a certain road to be a new subsidiary road, classified as a developmental road; and
(b) amends an earlier proclamation (S.R. 1970, No. 67) by inserting new definitions of several roads; and
(c) revokes certain, and certain portions of, earlier proclamations as they relate to those roads.
