EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the regulation)

These regulations, which replace the Dangerous Goods (Road and Rail Transport) Regulations 2010 consequent on their repeal under the Subordinate Legislation Act 1992, provide for the following for the purposes of transporting dangerous goods under the Dangerous Goods (Road and Rail Transport) Act 2010:

(a) the procedures and documentation required in different circumstances;

(b) the packaging requirements and consignment procedures;

(c) the licensing and insurance requirements;

(d) the safety equipment and safety standards required for vehicles and equipment;

(e) the emergency procedures;

(f) exemptions and administrative determinations and approvals given, and the review of such exemptions and administrative determinations and approvals;

(g) other miscellaneous matters.
