EXPLANATORY NOTE

These regulations amend the Electricity Supply Industry (Contestable Customer) Regulations 2005 by (a) replacing Part 2 , which relates to contestable customers, and thereby, amongst other things, from 1 July 2011, lowering to 0.05GWh per year the level of electricity usage at which a business customer will become a contestable customer; and(b) prescribing new requirements in respect of certain licences; and(c) creating contractual relationships relating to the distribution of electricity; and(d) assigning to the Tasmanian Economic Regulator the function of providing to contestable customers information about contestability.
