Appropriation (Supplementary Appropriation for 2022-23) Act 2022

An Act for the appropriation of $163 408 000 out of the Public Account for the services of the Government for the financial year ending on 30 June 2023

Be it enacted by Her Excellency the Governor of Tasmania, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and House of Assembly, in Parliament assembled, as follows:

1.   Short title

This Act may be cited as the Appropriation (Supplementary Appropriation for 2022-23) Act 2022 .

2.   Commencement

This Act is taken to have commenced on 1 July 2022.

3.   Interpretation

For the purposes of this Act –
Capital Services means –
(a) public works or property required for public purposes; or
(b) a loan authorised by law;
Operating Services means the ordinary annual services of the Government.

4.   Issue, application and appropriation of $163 408 000

(1)  In respect of the financial year ending on 30 June 2023, the Treasurer may –
(a) issue the sum of $163 408 000 out of the Public Account; and
(b) apply that sum for the services of the Government.
(2)  The sum specified in subsection (1)(a) is appropriated.

5.   Purposes of appropriation

(1)  The sum specified in section 4(1)(a) is to be applied for the purposes specified in Schedule 1 , as those purposes are specified with more particularity in subsection (2) .
(2)  The purposes of the operating services appropriation specified in Schedule 1 are, in particular –
(a) to enable Finance-General to provide a grant to Homes Tasmania of $126 924 000 for capital programs, including but not limited to –
(i) the Community Housing Growth Program; and
(ii) the Extended Social Housing Build; and
(iii) Housing – New Projects; and
(iv) Tasmania’s Affordable Housing Action Plan Stage 2; and
(b) to enable Finance-General to provide a grant to Homes Tasmania of $36 484 000 for the payment by Homes Tasmania of –
(i) salary costs, and non-salary costs, of Homes Tasmania; and
(ii) amounts to housing providers, and housing support providers, so that the operating costs of those providers in delivering housing assistance, or housing support services, may be met or supplemented.

6.   Expiry of Act

This Act expires on 30 June 2024.
